The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

(Written May 11, 2022) The panoramic view is one of the most treasured aspects of living on the ranch.  I look out the windows and see an ever-changing horizon, that often causes me to stop and pause. God’s majesty is on display. Seemingly, the heavens above are showcasing God’s honor and renown for the world to see. Consequently, it’s with eager anticipation that I look out my window. For as the images across the sky ebb and flow, the heavens are declaring the glory of God.

The Lord is continually unraveling a story through His creation.  Yet, He never says a word.  Psalms 19:1-4, NIRV, says it well:

The heavens tell about the glory of God.  The skies show that his hands created them.  Day after day, they speak about it.  Night after night, they make it known.  But they don’t speak or use words.  No sound is heard from them.  Yet their voice goes out into the whole earth.  Their words go out from one end of the world to the other.

God’s Artistry

Just like an artist paints a story on canvas, so does the Lord—yet His canvas is the sky. My responsibility is to stop and admire what I see, for God’s images are often brief and fleeting. I am thereby challenged to be watchful. I don’t want to miss When the Heavens Declare the Glory of God.

Our seven years on the ranch could be chronicled through pictures we’ve captured at sunrise, sunset, and everywhere in between.  These pictures are awe-inspiring, colorful, turbulent, powerful, frightening, anticipatory, and breath-taking.  I realize I am describing characteristics of my God.  It is His glory which is on display when I look out my window.

The Heavens Declare the Glory of God!

Thank you, Lord, that you give us a glimpse of your character through creation.  The sky has spoken to me these past seven years of country living. It’s been a thrilling and life-changing adventure.  Thank you for the privilege of living here.  In Your Precious Name.  Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Look at the sky right now.  Describe what you see and what you feel.
  2. Thank God for the power of His creation.  Meditate on Psalms 19:1-4.

  1. Sitting and gazing at the landscape is unusual for me, a city girl, but, you are right; the view here in Central Oregon is captivating! You can’t look at it long and not be impressed with God’s handiwork. ♥️
