Cherished and Loved by God

I am hunting for a birthday card for our daughter. Standing in the greeting card aisle, I scan numerous cards, reading their greetings and accolades.  With frustration, I find the majority of the cards either crass, corny, or too sappy.  Finding just the right card can be a challenge. However, as I search, I’m reminded that God is constantly expressing His love for us in His Word. He whispers, “Because you are precious to me, you are honored, and I love you.” Isaiah 43:4b. God says that we are loved and cherished, on our birthday, and every day of our lives.

God’s View of Me

We all crave acceptance and love, and turn to others for affirmation. However, people often disappoint. With determination, I’m learning to focus on how God sees me.  To my amazement, no matter what I’ve done, He says, “You are cherished and precious in my eyes.” Consequently, God’s words speak life and dignity over me.

I have called you by name and you are mine. Isaiah 43:1b

…I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. I have kept on loving you with a kindness that never fails. Jeremiah 31:3b

“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” Isaiah 49:16a

You Are Cherished and Loved by God

We are God’s prized possession and his beloved! With tenderness, God sings this sweet melody over us. “I am with you. I am mighty to save. My child, I take great delight in you. I rejoice over you with gladness. I quiet you by my love.” Zephaniah 3:17

When we cherish someone, we feel emotionally connected to that person. We want to joyfully serve them and sacrifice for them. This is exactly what Jesus did for us on the cross. Our past and present mistakes are forgotten. Jesus’ perfection covers our imperfection. Consequently, we are cherished and loved, just as we are. Dear friends, let’s embrace that amazing love!

Father God, thank you for calling me your precious and beloved child. Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Describe how God sees you.
  2. How do you view yourself?
  3. Is there a disconnect between these two perspectives?  If so, ask the Lord to show you how much He loves and cherishes you.
Spread the love
