Holy Spirit Infiltrate My Life

What do the Holy Spirit and pollen have in common?  Surprisingly, more than you would think!  Granted, they are both highly impactful!  One  in a positive way and the other negative (if you are allergic to it).  Right now, pollen season and Holy Spirit are both bombarding me.  I want the pollen to  go away.  At the same time, I desire more of God’s Spirit.  Holy Spirit Infiltrate My Life.

Pollen Affects Our Body

A  yellow dust covers my deck and patio furniture.  I clean and power wash, but it’s only a momentary solution.  Within a short time, the pollen is again visible.

Unfortunately, seasonal allergies are problematic for my husband and many others. As pollen enters our nostrils and infiltrates our bodies, it can create an immune response, triggering an allergic reaction.  If you have allergies, a runny nose, congestion, cough, and a general feeling of fatigue, are all too familiar.   Allergy season is no fun!

Holy Spirit’s Power

Unlike pollen, the Holy Spirit’s influence is positive. As a child of God, the Holy Spirit Infiltrates My Life.  Holy Spirit fills me with power and spiritual gifts.

And you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.  And you shall be my witnesses… Acts 1:8a

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5: 22-23

Breathe in the Spirit

As I enjoy my morning walk,  I take a deep breath.  I breathe in the fragrances of spring.  My senses are overwhelmed.

But as I breathe, I realize I am also breathing in God’s Spirit.  Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and is the Breath of Life.  He fills me and sustains me, not only today, but tomorrow, and for all eternity!

The Spirit marks us as God’s own.  We can now be sure that someday we will receive all that God has promised.  Ephesians 1:14

Holy Spirit Infiltrate My Life

God’s Spirit is attractive, powerful, and life-giving. I want all my senses to be more fully awakened to the person, presence, and power of the Holy Spirit.

Just like the yellow dust of pollen, I pray that the Holy Spirit is visible in my life and draws others to Him.

Resources on the Holy Spirit

I just finished the book, The Familiar Stranger by Tyler Staton, which I highly recommend. https://youtu.be/T_HHAeVnJjg?si=XQHHCLiPYUapGXW7 The subtitle of the book reads, Introducing the Holy Spirit to Those in Search of an Experiential Spirituality.  A podcast with the same title is also available on YouTube.

Prayer

Holy Spirit Infiltrate My Life!  I want more of You!  Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Are you familiar with the Spirit’s leading and influence in your life?
  2. How do you recognize the Holy Spirit’s voice and nudging?
  3. What gifts of the spirit do people most readily see in your life?
