Lord Have Mercy!

Lord, I’m not sure how much more pain Steve can handle.  He was in a dark place yesterday.  Psalms 130:-1-2 says‘Out of the depths I cry out to you, O Lord.  O Lord, hear my voice!  Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy!’

When Suffering Lingers

Chronic pain takes a toil. Being in bed every other day with a head-pounding migraine is beyond what I could endure.  By God’s grace, Steve perseveres.  But some days, he goes deeper into the pit of despair.  Lord have mercy!

Loneliness fills our home.  Not only for Steve, but for me as well.  We have a marriage that must dance with migraine.  I hate it.  Steve hates it.  The dance leaves us confused and uncertain how to dance without stepping on each other’s toes.  Lord, have mercy!

Our Hope is Unshaken

But we do not give up.  2 Corinthians 1:7 says, Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

God is a God of comfort. God is a God of mercy. He not only walks with us in our suffering; but comforts us in the process. Because of the Holy Spirit’s transformative power, we are then able to turn to others who are suffering, and extend the same comfort which we have received from our Heavenly Father.

Lord Have Mercy!

Dear Lord, our Comforter, Healer, and Redeemer, we place our trust in You.  We don’t understand why Steve suffers from chronic pain and migraine.  But we hope in You.  You have power over sin and sickness.  Please Lord, in Your Precious Name, I pray for healing for my beloved husband.  In the meantime, use our situation to bring comfort to others. Amen!
