My Grace is Sufficient

Our Reality

God’s Grace is Sufficient, even though:

1.  My husband, Steve, has suffered from chronic pain and migraine for twenty-five years.

2.   Chronic pain sucks!

3.  Chronic pain affects every aspect of our lives.

My Grace is Sufficient

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest upon me.

God’s Power, Not Ours

Oh, if only we truly understood the above verse; I believe we would live differently! This verse seems to indicate that God’s power is released in our weakness. How is that possible? I have no idea. But amazingly, God’s power is not only released, but perfected in our weakness. Continuing this thought, 2 Corinthians 12:10 reads: That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Father God, I have not yet learned to delight in my difficulties. Yet, I thank you for walking with Steve and me in our arduous journey.  Through your amazing power, we ask that You lift this heavy burden from our lives.  In the meantime, we thank you that Your grace is sufficient for each and every day. Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Are you living with chronic pain?  How do you cope?
  2. How can we practically support and encourage those who live with a chronic health condition?

  2. Thanks for your faith and I suffer from chronic pain but I feel many have so many worse health issues. I keep doing as much as I can. I am working on weight loss that has crept on for 30 years of not being able to run. Running is bad for your ankles and knees!! Happy Anniversary too. God bless your family.

    1. Hi Cindy. It’s so good to hear from you! I’m sorry you are a chronic pain sufferer. I’ll be writing more on that topic in the future. Stay encouraged! Thanks for commenting and for reading Grace-Upon-Grace.

When we hear of someone choosing to follow Jesus during challenging times…it inspires us to do the same! Your walk not only effects your relationship and your family…but all those who know of your situation. Your love for Christ and your husband is a faithfulness that has a ripple effect….thank you for sending encouragement and strength by sharing your testimony!

    1. Dusty, thank you for your kind words. I like the ripple effect analogy. I think encouragement also has a ripple effect. It flows into our lives so we can pass it on to others. Thanks for reading Grace-Upon-Grace!
