Seeking More of Jesus and Finding Him
This past year, Steve and I made frequent trips to the Oregon Coast. Granted, the coast is often cold, rainy and windy. However, with time, my appreciation and wonder of the Oregon Coast has increased. I am learning to embrace the ocean’s turbulent and stormy conditions, along with the coastline’s scenic and breath-taking views. Surprisingly, each visit, my expectations are higher. I want to discover something new and exciting. I want more.
The same holds true in my faith journey. Seeking More of Jesus and Finding Him is my heart’s desire. I don’t want to settle for less because I know that more is possible.
Treasures on the Beach
When the tide is low, it’s my chance to explore the beach. Beachcombing is looking for beach collectibles. It’s finding treasures.
Each beach trip, I come home with a box of rocks, shells, agates, and small pieces of driftwood. These momentos are intriguing, at least until I find something better to replace them.
My treasures from my first beach trip look mediocre in comparison to my latest finds. Why? Because I’m discovering I can do better. The more time I spend on the coast, the more familiar I become, and the higher my expectations. I know more awaits me.
Seeking More of Jesus and Finding Him
Seeking More of Jesus and Finding Him is about intimacy and familiarity. Similar to my beach walks, I’m continually searching for His hidden treasures that are waiting to be found.
I often grab my binoculars as I watch the ocean waves. I want greater magnification of what lies in the ocean depths. I’m searching, with wonder and awe. I’m hoping to get a glimpse of something new and powerful.
In like manner, I want more of Jesus.

But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
Prayer
Lord, I want more of You. May I diligently seek and find You. Amen.

Thank you, Maria! My oldest son and I are going to the coast next week for his Outdoor School. This is inspirational for beach combing, and reaching out to Jesus in support for what will be a challenging and rewarding week.
