We Also Have Found Favor with God

Queen Esther entered the king’s throne room with trepidation.  She had approached the throne without an invitation.  The king had the power to accept her or reject her.  Rejection meant death!  Esther knew the risk.  Yet, she boldly appealed to the king because her people were facing annihilation.  She went to the king to plead on behalf of the Jews, for which she was one.  Thankfully, the king extended his scepter.  She had found favor with the king.  Similarly, We Also Have Found Favor with God.

And when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she won favor in his sight. And he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand.  Esther 5:2a

Approaching God

Do you feel like Esther when you approach God?  Are you afraid to get too close because you fear God’s rejection and wrath?  Intimidation can stop us from even trying.  Thankfully, because of the blood of Jesus, We Also Have Found Favor with God.  God doesn’t have to extend His scepter to validate His approval of us.  We already have it!

How Do We Get Favor?

Finding favor is well-used phrase found in both the Old and New Testament.  Surprisingly, finding favor isn’t based on anything we have done.  Instead, it represents God’s loyal love toward us.

We Also Have Found Favor with God

Unlike Queen Esther, there is no reason for us to fear entering the Lord’s presence.  God delights in us!  Why?  Because we are His.

Sadly, we have difficulty stepping into the worth that God has for us.  But remember…because we are His children, we are chosen, loved, and accepted, by the God of the universe! So, let us rejoice that We Also Have Found Favor with God.

Prayer:

Dear Father, Son and Spirit, I am in awe of your love for me.  Help me see myself through your eyes, with favor.  Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. What emotions do you experience when you approach the Lord in prayer?
  2. Is there a disconnect between how you see yourself and how God sees you?  Why do you think this is?
