Weariness, Satan’s Attack

One of Satan’s ploys is weariness.  Perhaps you have experienced a weariness beyond despair.

Weariness is extreme tiredness or fatigue.  When we are weary, there is a reluctance to see or experience something new.  We are exhausted in strength, endurance, vigor, and freshness.  Our spirit is deflated.

I find it interesting that weariness is such a powerful force at Satan’s disposal.  Daniel 7:25a says, He (Satan) shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High.  In the Arabic language, this phrase means “to afflict and handle roughly”.  Satan wants to weaken our strength and power, and wear us out like a worn-out garment.

Jesus Gives Us Rest

After twenty-five years of chronic pain, I see the effects of weariness on my husband, Steve.  Constant affliction or persecution can make us question our purpose and test our faith.  But Jesus does provide an antidote.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.

So that we would not be outwitted by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his designs. 2 Corinthians 2:11

Even when we are weary, especially when we are weary, we need to run to Jesus.  He gives rest.

Dear Jesus, I bring my husband before you, in his weariness and pain.  I pray that in your precious name, you would release him of the burden he carries.  He comes to you, dragging his weariness.  Jesus, thank you for working behind the scenes to provide rest for Steve’s soul.  Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Are you experiencing weariness in your life?  Describe your situation.
  2. Have you found rest in Jesus?  Explain.
