God is Glorified in the Details

A few weeks back, I replaced my outdoor flowerpots with a fresh variety of fall flowers.  My pots include geraniums, cigar plants, and lantana.  To my pleasant surprise, hummingbirds love cigar plants (as shown above) and immediately became my frequent visitors!

Hummingbirds fascinate me with their rapid movement, vibrant colors, energy, and need for sugar!  It’s amazing how these intricate and busy creatures instantly make me smile.  With each smile comes a whisper of praise to God for creating such a unique bird that I can enjoy.  God is Glorified in the Details.

Fun Details About Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are called hummers and are nicknamed flying jewels.

A group of hummingbirds is called a charm.

Hummers travels thousands of miles a year and can go 500 miles nonstop.

With their keen memory, hummingbirds can remember the location of every flower they have ever visited.

Hummers love sugar and have an incredibly high metabolism, requiring them to eat twice their body weight daily.

Hummers don’t really hum… but the quick and constant movement of their tail feathers create a “chatter”.

God’s Glory Revealed

Bible Pastor, Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesberg, VA says, “God Glorifies Himself in the Details.”  Isn’t that so true?  Consider the following verses:

  • Acts 4:24b: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.”
  • Psalm 50:11: “I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.”
  • Matthew 10:30: “But even the hairs of your head have all been counted.”

God Knows the Minute Details of My Life

We are all unique beings.  None is alike.  Tiny little details make each of us special and one-of-a-kind.  It’s fascinating to think that the God of the universe is intimately acquainted with every detail of my being. And just as I love watching the hummingbirds, so the Lord God delights in watching me. Amazingly, God is gloried in the details of my life and in yours!

God is Glorified in the Details

Sadly, summer has come to an end.  Soon, colder weather will force the hummingbirds to migrate south.  Even these seasonal rhythms in life point us to God.

Let’s challenge ourselves to look for God is everyday happenings. Let’s watch for the wonder around us. Not surprisingly, God is in the Details.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Share something awe-inspiring that you saw in nature today.  What was it?  What detail or characteristic did you find interesting?
  2. No detail is too small or insignificant to God.  Talk to Him about the “little things” in life.  How does this practice make you feel closer with God?

Reminds me of Ephesians 4…,,, 🎶 Be ye kind to one another, tender hearted too; forgiving one another as Christ Jesus has forgiven you…🎶…
